**G. VENU** **G. Venu,** founder- Director, Natana Kairali, a training and research institute situated at Irinjilakuda, is a versatile actor and director both in Kutiyattam and Kathakali. He has been striving to preserve and propagate the traditional art forms of Kerala including Kathakali, Kutiyattam, Pav-Kathakali and Mohini Attam. He is the author of several books on dance and theater including *Alphabet of Gestures in Kathakali, Mohini Attam - The Lasya Dance* (with Nirmala Paniker), *Production of a Play in Kutiyattam, etc.,* This short note on the role of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi in the propagation of Mohini Attam is taken from his book *Kathakali, Kutiyattam and other performing arts.* Poet Rabindranath Tagore was one of those great people who strove to rejuvenate the Indian dance tradition and make it part of the ordinary person’s life.
